Adventures with an Artifact
May. 11th, 2013 09:45 pmAfter leaving Joshua, Moist went back to his hotel room and contemplated the gold sculpture that Joshua had. It was already giving him a number of ideas, it had the look of coming from somewhere far away. One of his maps would work best, one that spoke of hidden treasures and secrets that not everyone would be privy too. There were a lot of country houses in this area, an inn out near the edges where he could set up shop with an adventure story would be perfect.
Once he decided, it all came together quickly, he seemed to have even more energy than usual. Finding the right inn was easy, no one too well known lived in the area and learned where to avoid. The statue provided the perfect note of interest as people would stop and ask about it and he would play the absent minded scholar, who’s traveled slightly and doesn’t know what he’s found. Everyone wished to help him as he was clearly a rather naive boy, who had ended up on odd times after investing too much in his travels. Now his family money was gone and all he had was this one statue and a map to where he’d found it. The story spun out from his hands easily and he saw the excitement spreading as a group of retired officers talked about putting money together for him and the local priest had him over for sherry to reminisce on his travels in foreign lands.
He was having some trouble sleeping and kept having more and more ideas of how to improve the plan as well as worrying that someone might spot what he was doing. When he met with the officers, he couldn’t sit still and paced around the room, which was in character but didn’t work. Milliways hadn’t shown up though that was for the best as he would have to return the statue to Joshua at some point. After all he didn’t need to sell it, it was just too perfect a prop to not take advantage of.
